In the ongoing trial of Constance Marten and Mark Gordon, a British couple accused of murder, the jury has been given a majority direction. The prosecution alleges that the defendants killed their newborn baby and disposed of its body in a garden.
During the trial, jurors were shown harrowing images of the baby's body, which was discovered several weeks after the couple went missing. The court has heard evidence that the defendants, who are wealthy aristocrats, went off-grid in January 2023 after their car was found burning and abandoned.
Marten, 37, has reportedly told the jury that she carried her dead baby's body around in a bag while on the run from police. She and Gordon, 48, deny the murder charge and claim that the baby was stillborn.
