We are excited to announce our three-day hybrid celebration of Juneteenth New York 2023. This year's celebration will feature a variety of online and in-person events to commemorate the end of slavery in the United States.
On June 19th, 1865, Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced that the enslaved people of the state were free. This day became known as Juneteenth, and it is now celebrated as a federal holiday in the United States.
Our Juneteenth New York 2023 celebration will include a variety of events to commemorate this important day, including:
- A virtual keynote address from a prominent speaker
- Panel discussions on the history of Juneteenth and its ongoing relevance
- Musical performances and cultural activities
- Educational workshops for all ages
We invite you to join us for this year's celebration. Together, we can learn about the history of Juneteenth, celebrate the progress that has been made, and recommit ourselves to the fight for racial justice.
